the crystals of the mansions

Crystals and Stones of the Mansions of the Moon

The Mansions are 28 Divisions of the Zodiac and as such have the influence of the elements based on their location in the Zodiac.  Each of the 12 Sun signs in the Zodiac has a particular elemental energy.  Any Mansion that is contained within a sun sign obviously has the same elemental energy as the sun sign of that area of the sky.  But several of the Mansions bridge portions of the Zodiac between sun signs.  These Mansions have more than one elemental energy.  Thus there are more stones and crystals with an affinity for those Mansions.

NOTE:  This listing is not intended to be all inclusive or “cast in stone”. The study of the Mansions and the influence of the Moon’s travels is an evolving one.  We do have some preliminary correspondences.  As we study, we learn more, so expect to see changes and additions to this listing over time.   In general the crystals that align with the Mansions do so based on their color energy as it relates to the four prime elements:  Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. Several colors are aligned with more than one element. This is due to the variety of cultures that have contributed to the study.  Please understand there are no definitive answers here. Rather there is an on-going study of the crystal energies and how they align with the Moon’s influences as it travels the Zodiac.  Also be aware that every crystal is different.  You may well find crystals that have a strong affinity for a particular Mansion. That is to be expected in the amazing world of crystal energy.

Use this listing to begin your journey in exploring the wonders of using crystal energy and Moon energy to bring magic to your life and spirit.

Moon Phases

Introduction

The study of Lunar Astrology is exciting and actually, easy to master.  The Moon travels around the Zodiac as it orbits the earth affects us daily in many ways.  One of the most visible influences of the Moon on our lives and spirits is the daily change of the phase of the Moon.  Over a period of about 28 days, it goes from reflecting no sunlight – when it is essentially “Up sun” from the Earth to reflecting full sunlight when it is “down Sun”.  We know these two phases as the New Moon and the Full Moon.  There are many ways to divide up the 28 days of the cycle, but the most common is using eight phases.

You may be familiar with the eight moon phases – New, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full, Waning Gibbous, Third Quarter, and Waning Crescent. However, you may be unfamiliar with their influence on your daily life. This e-book will explain the basics and teach you how to utilize that information for spells, rituals, ceremonies, observances, or healing practices. The moon holds great power and can be used as a source for transformation and strength towards a more positive lifestyle.

Ancient civilizations have utilized the Moon with great respect. In many cultures, the moon cycle was the basis of their clocks and calendars. It helped them maintain the cycles of religion and civil events as well as agricultural and hunting purposes. Some civilizations believed that the moon phases controlled fertility and determined when a woman could become pregnant. In fact, our word “month” is from “Moonth.”

In modern times, our viewpoint of the moon has evolved. You’ll find that the moon and its phases are heavily associated with astrology. Astrology can be overwhelming and difficult to understand. Luckily, we are just focusing on the basics of the moon phases so you can begin harnessing its energy to look at life’s challenges with greater clarity without a lot of astrological studies.

Phases

The New Moon

The new moon is positioned between the earth and the sun, so it cannot be seen from earth. It is completely darkened. This phase signifies new beginnings. During this time, start new projects, plan for the future, and make changes. Reminisce about your accomplishments and think about what you wish to accomplish. This is also a time to discard the things you do not want in your life so you can regain your strengths to begin again. Mentally rid yourself of unwanted thoughts and energy and recharge with the new moon. You may find it best to unplug or disconnect temporarily from others to give yourself some alone time to turn yourself inward.

Waxing Crescent

Waxing means the illumination of the moon is growing while the crescent refers to the curved shape on the right side. This phase signifies new intentions. The moon is progressing to fullness, so it’s time to plant your intentions and begin progress on your goals. This is also a good time to work on your confidence, compassion, and self-assurance.

First Quarter

The right half of the moon is illuminated during this phase. It signifies action and decision-making. It is a good time to reflect on what you have accomplished so far, celebrate your achievements, and take action. You will start to feel resistance in the form of obstacles during this phase. Be prepared to make decisions. Stay true to your intentions and desires.

Waxing Gibbous

The moon appears more than half illuminated, but less than full. It signifies refinement. We are only one phase away from the full moon. This phase gives us time to really hone our intentions, goals, and actions. You may need to make changes or adjustments. Pay attention to detail and be mindful. Take this time to figure out what is working for you and what needs to change.

Full Moon

During this time, the moon is completely illuminated. It signifies release and sealing intentions. This is the most powerful moon phase. It is the best time for manifesting and gaining insight. It is the most recommended time to perform ceremonies and charge or cleanse divination tools such as crystals. You’ll find your psychic abilities are increased and extra power is added to your intentions. Emotions can run high during this phase.

Waning Gibbous

The moon begins to look less illuminated on the right side. It signifies gratitude. The power from the full moon is winding down. You should feel the benefits of the full moon here. You’ll feel full of love and light. Now is the time to share and give back to those around you.

Third Quarter

The left half of the moon is illuminated during this phase. It signifies forgiveness. Forgive yourself and others during this time for mistakes or grudges and release all anger. It is an excellent time to break bad habits, let go, and release energy. Rid yourself of all negative energy, so you can be able to receive the new intentions you set during the new moon. Take the time to look at anything that no longer serves you and remove it from your life.

Waning Crescent

Waning means the illumination of the moon is decreasing and forming a crescent shape on the left side. This signifies forgiveness surrender. It’s nearly time for the new moon that will bring new beginnings. Time to prepare for the new cycle. Surrender to the universe. Things won’t always be in your control. That is okay. Forgive yourself and reset the intentions you did not achieve for the next cycle. Take extra care of yourself and allow yourself peace of mind.

To apply this knowledge of Moon astrology, we can combine it with the ancient wisdom of the cosmic energy of the days of the week Every day carries its own unique vibration and when you can tune in to its energy, you will start to notice how it will shape and guide your week.

Day Intention/Desire/Theme
Sunday Spiritual Growth, Restoration, Self-reflection, success, prosperity, wealth, promotion, healing, strength, Decision Making, Divine Intervention, Friendships, Goals, vitality
Monday Psychic endeavors, invoking power, creativity, healing, intuition, fertility, dreaming, peace, spirituality, justice, emotion, beauty
Tuesday Protection, Confidence, Sexual encounters, courage, rebellion, success, conflict, strength, leadership
Wednesday Career/Job related issues, intellectual pursuits, traveling, business, chance, fortune, debt, wisdom, communication, education, creativity, change
Thursday Finances, Spirituality, Development, Honor, Healing, Harvest, Abundance, Loyalty, Education, wealth, success, business, good health
Friday Romantic Attraction, Reconciliation, Love, Passion, Fertility, Birth, Friendship, Alliances, Balance
Saturday home related issues, personal goals, commitment, releasing bad habits, Wisdom, Spirituality, Cleansing, Protection, Self-Discipline, endings, manifestation

Knowing the basic energy of the different moon phases, and knowing the energy of each day of the week, we can now add even more knowledge We can do this by using ordinal directions – north, east, south, and west. They can help you with more than navigation. Each of these carry a meaning of its own and corresponds to one of the four elements – Earth, Fire, Water, and Air.  In the chart below we see the energy of the cardinal directions and the basic element that is associated with them.

Ordinal Direction Element Intention/Desire/Theme
North Earth Wisdom, Completion, Balance, Practical Solutions, Power, Organize, Insight, Justice, Adaptability, Security, Home, Fertility
East Air Renewal, Birth, Rebirth, Innocence, Hope, Trust, Leadership, Guidance, Open-Minded, Love, Career, Health, Balance, Spirituality, Compassion, Communication, Growth
South Fire Emotion, Preparation, Passion, Fullness, Self-Control, Release, Creativity, Imagination, Adventure, Loyalty, Strength, Energy
West Water Dreams, Completion, Power, Strength, Determination, Development, Confidence, Business, Energy, Persistence, Movement, Psyche

Knowing the energy of the Moon’s cycle, the energy of the days of the week, and the energy of the cardinal directions gives us incredible knowledge. We can build a calendar of the cosmic energy.  We can use that calendar to set up our sacred space to assure our spells and ceremonies are their most powerful because they are done at the best possible time and the altar is set up in the best possible way.

The chart below brings this all together and makes it very easy to create a monthly calendar of the cosmic energy based on the moon cycle and the days of the week.

For example, if you wished to create a spell or ceremony that was focused on romantic love, you would find a time this month when the Moon is a New Moon, a Full Moon, or a Waning Gibbous moon that occurs on a Friday or Tuesday.  When that combination occurs, you would orient your altar focus to the East, South, or North.

You can easily find monthly calendars on the Web that show the moon cycle for the month.  With that calendar and the following chart, you can assure your magic is powerful by aligning your intentions with the cosmic energy.

Desire/Intention Lunar Phase Day of the Week Ordinal Direction
Health New Moon or Waxing Crescent Sunday, Monday, Thursday East
Anger Third Quarter, Waning Crescent Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, North
Addiction Waning Crescent, New Moon, Third Quarter Sunday, Monday, Saturday South or East

Attractors

Attractor Crystals – from the Tetragonal Crystal System

attractor symbolAttractors have an internal structure built on the rectangle that often manifests itself by producing minerals with a surface sheen that seems to catch your eye and attract you to the crystal or even the rough mineral specimen. These crystals like Zircon stand out and are noticed by the play of light over their surface. These crystals are perfect when your purpose is to attract someone or something to you.

attractors work like magnet Attractors help you focus on being attractive so that what you are seeking will actually seek you. Gaining recognition, winning friends, or attracting wealth are all needs that Attractors can help you fulfill. Used in conjunction with Seekers, the Attractor talismans can provide you with very potent and focused energy.

Be aware however, that the Attractors seem to have a passive energy, like a magnet. When nothing is around to attract, the energy of a magnet seems to be gone. It is only energized when something is around to attract. Then suddenly a magnet’s power is apparent. So too, the Attractors seem to have a waiting element to their energy. If nothing comes along the Attractor doesn’t seem to have much power. That is why they are used with Seekers. The Seekers help us get out and find what we need. Then the Attractors power can be applied. Avoid reliance on Attractors alone. You might someday get what you desire, but it could be a very long wait.

Dispellers

Dispeller crystals help you rid yourself of undesired elements of your life

Sometimes in your life you need to rid yourself of things you have but no longer want. You want to get rid of pains, sickness, worry, and a host of unpleasant feelings.  For these needs, the Dispeller talismans that form in the orthorhombic system are needed. These “diamond shape” internal crystal arrangements are similar to the cubic system, but have one elongated axis.  They often appear as multiple diamond shaped crystals like a multitude of arrowheads or pyramids – the diamond shape of their crystal lattice acts like a radiator, with sharp points from which the energy can flow easily outward. This outward flow of energy can carry with it the undesirable elements in your life.

be gonePhysically, Dispellers are a good choice when you wish to rid your life of pain, discomfort, injury, illness, or disease. However a note of caution is needed. Remember, crystals have the ability to focus and magnify your power. They are not magic rocks. Seek professional medical advice for physical ailments.

Dispellers are very helpful talismans for mental and spiritual problems. All of us have problems. Some are physical, some spiritual. Certainly our lives would be more enjoyable and more productive if we could rid ourselves of them. Worry, anxiety, fear, and doubt can literally cripple us and make our lives miserable.  Again, for serious mental disorders, the care of a licensed professional is required.

The Dispellers are also known as the Restorers. These crystals are used to put things back right again after they are out of balance. If you were happy, then became plagued by doubt, these crystals help you to focus and magnify your energy to rid yourself of the doubt and restore your happiness. If you had a great job, then lost it for some reason, these crystals and minerals can help you restore your life as a productive member of the working community.

Barriers

Barriers protect from the undesirable elements of life

Shop for Barrier Crystals

barrier symbolWith the inner form of a trapezium, a structure with no right angles, a triclinic crystalline structure gives a crystal strength in all directions allowing it to providing barriers to attack from all directions simultaneously. These Barrier crystals are very effective amulets for defending yourself from the misfortunes of this world.

It can be a dangerous world. Disease, war, famine, heartbreak, accidents, and misfortunes of all kinds can await us. Ships founder, cars crash, the flu spreads. The Barrier crystals are useful when you want to protect yourself from such misadventures. They can aid you in your efforts to prevent mishaps and keep away from harm. The minerals that form in the triclinic, Barrier crystal structure are the true protection crystals.

keep things outThe Barrier crystals are similar to Guardian crystals; the difference is the focus. The Guardians are crystals that help you focus on protecting something you value – an inward focus in a way.  In contrast, the Barrier crystals are externally focused – on keeping specific undesirable environments away. Many efforts can be successful using either type of talisman. We can use a Guardian crystal to guard our health, or a specific Barrier crystal to keep a particular disease away. The choice is an individual one that mostly depends on the focus of a specific need or desire. Often these crystals are used together.

However, even alone, the Barrier crystals have incredible abilities to help us focus and amplify our efforts to keep undesirable elements out of our lives. One particularly powerful Barrier, Turquoise, has a long history of success as a protective talisman. The Native American culture has long recognized the power of this mineral and still uses it extensively to protect themselves and their way of life.

For more information on the power of Barrier crystals and the amulets they make, read The Seven Secrets of Crystal Talismans.

Guardians

Guardians – protecting you, your family, and your dreams

Shop for Guardian Crystals

guardian crystal symbolWhen you have something you want to protect use a crystal that forms in the monoclinic system.  These Guardian crystals have an internal structure that is composed of parallelograms. The parallel structure of their crystalline lattice gives these crystals their power to protect us in the physical world and in the spiritual one. The Guardian talismans do not reveal their inner strength. These stones rarely, if ever, form transparent crystals. Rather, they hide their strength behind an opaque mask, obscuring the power they possess.

In the physical world they are excellent aids in protecting your loved ones, your possessions, and your physical security. They are very useful in protecting houses and homes, property, and valuables. If you have prized possessions you want to guard and protect, use a Guardian crystal. They are also useful for travelers and adventures to take with them on their travels as insurance against harm. They are useful for emergency workers, soldiers, sailors, and airmen in the performance of their dangerous duties.

In the spiritual world, the Guardian crystals have several special uses. They first serve to guard your beliefs against doubt. Everyone at some point begins to doubt some of his or her most cherished beliefs. That doubt can grow and affect our lives. A Guardian crystal can help you keep true to your ideals and beliefs. The Guardian crystals can also protect your spirits. If you anticipate a trying and difficult, even stressful future, a Guardian can be very effecting in aiding your efforts to maintain your disposition, sense of humor, and respect for others.

The minerals that form in this monoclinic system are also known as the Dreamholders. They often appear to have a hazy surface as if there is something veiled from our sight just beneath the surface. This is best observed in the Moonstone. This stone, being a Dreamholder, is a particularly powerful mineral when used to aid you in focusing your energy to hold onto your dreams.

Enhancers

Crystals that Enhance your Life, Relationships, and Abilities

Enhancer symbolShop for Enhancer Crystals

Enhancers are minerals and crystals that form in the Isometric crystal system.  They have internal crystal lattices of perfect cubic symmetry and internal harmony. They form perfect building blocks internally.  Often this internal structure of equality and perfect right angles produces crystals of equally perfect external shapes: cubes!

These are the “building block” crystals. Their internal structure of blocks builds up perfect crystal lattices that can help us focus our efforts to build on our successes and enhance our lives. Whereas the Seeker system produces crystals and minerals that aid in new beginnings, the Enhancers of the isometric system aid us in building on our successes and achievements.

building blocks of successMany of these crystals are used for self-improvement. Both physically and mentally, we all seem to be trying to get better at something. We want to be able to run faster, jump higher, shoot more accurately, serve a tennis ball faster, or just jog all the way to the corner.  We want to be more patient, kinder, or just learn to be more attentive.  When its “more of something” you want use a Enhancer crystal in your efforts to get it.

This crystal system, with its internal structure so perfectly arranged, also holds the energy we need to help us arrange our life in a more orderly manner. This crystal order produces excellent talismans of order, rule, law, constancy, higher ideals, patterns, simple connections, fitting in a social order, linking, learning, growing consistently, and acting logically.

Seekers

Seekers help you find that which you desire, yet lack

Shop for Seeker Crystals

seeker symbolSeekers are minerals that form in the Hexagonal crystal system. These minerals form with their molecules arranged in triangular structures, nature’s simplest form that looks like an arrowhead. The minerals of the Hexagonal crystal system often form crystals with an external shape that mirror their internal arrangement; appearing like an arrow or pointer.

With this alignment of the visible external structure and the internal one providing directions and focus, these crystals and minerals are powerful aids when we desire to acquire that which we do not yet possess. These crystals’ energy structure will focus and multiply your desires and efforts to point to a path to that which you seek.

Seekers gain power from their triangular arrangement of moloculesThe Seekers are powerful, numerous, and very useful crystals that will help you be successful in starting a new effort. The Seeker crystals help you to discover new opportunities and to achieve new goals. These are the fresh start crystals; the crystals of new beginnings and new discoveries. These are the crystals of the scientist, the adventurer, the hunter, the wanderer, and the explorer. They are also the crystals of the student and the researcher.

Seeker crystals are pointers, directors, and compasses. They help you align your feelings for new beginnings into thoughts that are focused on discovery. Those thoughts lead to actions that result in the discovery of the new approaches, new angles, and new beginnings you seek. Those actions, as they become habits, develop into a new life.

Seeker crystals are probably the most popular type of crystal. When you need help to find new relationships, new love, new capabilities, new experiences, or new ways of living, Seekers give you the needed ability to focus and amplify your abilities to seek out the new elements you desire. Seekers contain the crystal energy structure that aligns the natural energy of the crystal to the natural power of the human mind to find your way to new horizons and new capabilities.

As a note, some mineral texts split out the Trigonal system, but modern systems place it as a subsystem of the hexagonal. Both are Seekers with their molecules arranged in triangles.

For more information on the power of Seeker crystals read The Seven Secrets of Crystal Talismans.
